The past is new、The future is nostalgic (from the Keio Shimbun)
I was in April 2003、United States St. From Associate Professor at Jude Children's Research Hospital、I took up the position as a professor at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Keio University。By then, I worked as a postdoctoral student in the US.. Become independent in Jude、Started a lab from nothing、I have been running the lab for about 8 years.。However、When you return to Japan、Literally empty the lab again、I've become a state where there's no one other than myself。On the day I left the US、I realized the words "soldiers' dreams."、I still can't forget that I felt a strong emotion。Then、I have been in Shinano Town for 22 years.、Research and education, starting with、I was able to have a fulfilling and enjoyable day。And now、When emptying the lab again、I feel the same emotions as I did back then。again、Researchers who did research together in my lab、Maya Kono、technician、Secretaries、Furthermore, to all those involved in the Faculty of Medicine and Keio University.、We would like to express our sincere gratitude。
That being said、There is no substance in the past。This moment too、The future is changing to the present one by one、It shapes the past。In other words、The future is creating a new past。This thing、Theoretical physicist Professor Saji Haruo said,The past is new、The future is nostalgic"I expressed it as。Generally、It is often thought that the past determines the future、Conversely, it can also be said that the future "today" future defines the past "today" past。
Thanks to you、4From Monday onwards, I will be transferred to Keio University WPI-Bio2Q.、I was given the opportunity to continue my research under the Director Honda.。in recent years、.、schizophrenia、Many mental and neurological disorders such as autism spectrum disorders and developmental disorders、It is becoming increasingly thought to be a "synaptic disease" caused by synaptic abnormalities。Until now, I、We investigate how central nervous system synapses are formed and maintained.、Based on this knowledge, we have aimed to clarify the pathology of synaptic disease and develop treatment methods.。In WPI-Bio2Q、In addition to the central nervous system、Enteroinal nervous system、Autonomic nervous system、Peripheral nervous system、Furthermore, we will continue our research focusing on the synapse formation mechanism that connects these nervous systems with each organ.。With this approach、Understand the mechanism by which multiple organs connect to each other and maintain homeostasis、We hope to help you understand the pathology of diseases and develop new treatments。And、By continuing to create a "new past"、Further developments in WPI-Bio2Q and Keio University School of Medicine、I hope to contribute at least a little。
Continuing in the future、We hope you will continue to provide us with unchanging guidance and support、to be of your help。
